1. Introduction

This is the privacy statement of the Amo Institute, headquartered in the Netherlands. In this statement the Amo Institute explains how it handles any personal details obtained via this website, forms or via other means.

2. Purpose of details collected

2.1. If you would like to connect with the Amo Institute, e.g. as a Researcher etc., or take part in a forum or survey on this website, or order anything via this website, based on Art. 8-11 Dutch Data Protection Act, the Institute may ask you to provide your full name, address, phone number(s), (social) media (website, Facebook, Twitter), bank and payment details. These details are used so that the Amo Institute can:

  • properly identify you as Researcher, Head of Research, Editor or other person affiliated with the Institute;
  • provide the institute's services;
  • carry out administrative procedures;
  • inform you of policies, directives and services of the Institute, and
  • (in exceptional cases) pass on information to third parties where required to do so by law or court order.

2.2. In addition, the Amo Institute may ask you to give details regarding your education, work, position, age and interests. These details are used by the Amo Institute to obtain a clearer picture of you, to connect you with the right team(s) and to develop its services and website(s) in line with personal preferences. The Amo Institute may also record all information, (e.g. the used IP address) with a view to collating user statistics, and for the protection of its website(s), data- and research facilities and other electronic systems.

2.3. You will not be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing, including profiling, which produces legal effects concerning you or similarly significantly affects you.

2.4. Your personal details will be not be kept longer than necessary for the achievement of the above purposes.

3. Cookies

The Amo Institute may use third party cookies on its website(s), which are stored by your browser on your computer. Cookies are used to monitor the internet traffic. They also record information, such as settings on your PC, and your personal preferences, which is used to simplify your next visit to the Institute's websites. This information does not include your name, address or financial (e.g. credit card) details. You may set your browser to not accept any cookies. However, this may result in you being unable to make use of all the possibilities of the Institute's websites or to access all parts of its websites.

4. Transfer of ownership

During the further growth and development of the Amo Institute, one or more companies or activities of the Amo Institute may be transferred to a third party. In this case your personal details might also be transferred.

5. Transfer of personal data to countries outside of the European Union

For technical and operational reasons it may be necessary to pass on your details to the Amo Institute companies or affiliate companies in countries outside of the European Union, where the legislation governing data protection and the right to privacy may not offer the same level of protection as is the case in the European Union. The Amo Institute will, however, ensure an adequate level of protection as provided in Art. 45-47 GDPR.

You may request access to and rectification or erasure of your personal data or restriction of processing concerning your data or object to processing as well as the right to data portability. 7. Miscellaneous

7.1. You have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (DPA). The Dutch DPA supervises processing of personal data in order to ensure compliance with laws that regulate the use of personal data. The most important laws are the Dutch Data Protection Act (Wet bescherming persoonsgegevens), the Police Data Act (Wet politiegegevens) and the Basic Registration of Persons Act (Wet basisregistratie personen).
